GSA Uncovers Record-Setting $13 Billion in Suspected Procurement Fraud in Collaboration with White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud

The Announcement Constitutes the Largest Suspected Fraud Bust in GSA History by Both Number of Contractors Involved and Total Dollar Amount

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the U.S. General Services Administration is announcing that it has uncovered more than $13 billion in suspected fraud by federal contractors since March 2026 as part of its collaboration with the White House Task Force to Eliminate Fraud.

By utilizing governmentwide contracting data, public reporting, and inspector general enforcement information, GSA is significantly expanding its waste, fraud, and abuse identification and action capabilities.

“Let this serve as a warning to any bad actors thinking of stealing from the federal government: we will catch you, we will work with law enforcement to ensure your arrest, and we will do everything in our power to help recover every dollar you stole,” said GSA Administrator Edward C. Forst.

“GSA operates the leading marketplace for federal procurement, where businesses compete to serve and supply the federal government. When fraudsters rig that system by falsifying records or misrepresenting themselves, they steal not just from taxpayers, but also from the law-abiding contractors that support our federal agency partners as they carry out President Trump’s agenda.

Anyone who lies their way into receiving taxpayer dollars is putting their business, their reputation, and their freedom at risk. GSA is fully committed to working with Vice President Vance’s task force to root out fraud and protect the integrity of federal procurement.”

“Stopping all federal fraud requires the work of every federal agency, and the GSA has more than stepped up to the task,” said Fraud Task Force Executive Director Scott Brady. “Today’s announcement shows just how broken our federal procurement system was before President Donald Trump, Vice President Vance, and Administrator Forst.”

Led by the Office of Government-wide Policy, GSA is conducting an unprecedented review of COVID-19 spending, 8(a) program integrity, contractor eligibility, bid rigging, cybersecurity false claims, bribery, and other contractor-integrity risks, and referring suspected fraudsters for Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or Department of Justice (DOJ) investigation.
