Michael Gelber
As Acting Public Buildings Service Commissioner, Michael Gelber has the privilege of working with over 3,000 dedicated public servants as they provide space and services to approximately 1 million federal employees across the United States. The Public Buildings Service manages approximately 360 million square feet of space in more than 8,000 owned and leased properties. From courthouses to land ports of entry, laboratories to law enforcement offices, office buildings to warehouses, the Public Buildings Service is one of the largest real estate operations in the world.
Through his over 38-year career with GSA, Michael has served in GSA offices across the United States and in Washington, DC. He began his GSA career in 1988 as a Project Manager and Facilities Planner in Chicago. Michael became a member of the Senior Executive Service in 2009. In 2016, he earned the Presidential Rank Award of distinguished executive. Michael is a graduate of Columbia University in the City of New York with a bachelor’s degree in history, and has attended the University of Chicago.
