Auburn Campus GSA COVID Testing Site Update

GSA Partners With Multiple Government Agencies to Boost Free COVID-19 Testing at Auburn Campus

As COVID-19 rates continue to rise in the south King County area, the partnership between GSA's Northwest/Arctic Region and the King County Public Health Department, the City of Auburn, and Puget Sound Regional Fire District has never been more important.

Positive cases of COVID are again increasing after several months in decline. Specifically, the Auburn area is seeing a positivity rate of nearly 13 percent compared to only 3.2 percent for all of King County.

Because of this dramatic jump in positive cases, King County Public Health developed a recent campaign to increase attention to the GSA testing site at the regional office building campus.

King County Public Health officials want to re-emphasize the importance of testing and isolation in the context of increasing cases. Everyone is urged to immediately isolate and get tested at the first sign of COVID-19 symptoms or close contact with someone who has recently been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Free testing is available at the site, located on the southern end of the Auburn GSA campus property, to anyone who needs it, regardless of insurance or immigration status. Testing is open Monday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Anyone seeking testing is strongly encouraged to pre-register online to save time and speed up the testing process.

"The partnership with King County Public Health is vital to ensuring the residents of south King County have access to free testing to minimize the spread of COVID-19," said Regional Administrator Roy Atwood. "We are thankful to be in a position to assist in helping King County Public Health by offering space for the testing site as GSA is committed to being a community partner.

Administrator Atwood also stated the partnership is a great example of how federal, state, and county agencies can work together for the common good of the community.

Since testing began September 1, more than 12,700 people have been tested at the GSA site. The highest single day of tests came following last Wednesday's media blitz where more than 470 people came through to be tested.
