Ronald Reagan Courthouse in Harrisburg up for auction

PHILADELPHIA — Today, the U.S. General Services Administration is pleased to announce the sale of the Ronald Reagan Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse at 228 Walnut Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The 11-story, approximately 246,000 GSF building is located in the central business district. The building is listed for sale on RealEstateSales.gov at a starting bid of $3,000,000.

Constructed in 1966, the building is in a prime location across from Strawberry Square, a one-million square foot retail and office complex, and the grounds of the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex. The building has 55 parking spaces in the basement level, and is just 50 feet from two public parking garages. It is situated on a 0.695-acre parcel.

The property’s proximity to the Capitol and local economic incentives offer a great redevelopment opportunity.

Existing tenants will continue to occupy the building until new spaces are completed, including the new courthouse.

The building sale is a Federal Assets Sale and Transfer Act (Public Law 114-287) (FASTA) property. Passed by Congress in December 2016, FASTA requires the Office of Management and Budget and GSA to identify opportunities for the federal government to reduce its inventory of real property through accelerated sales of approved properties, more efficiently utilize existing properties and reduce the cost for maintaining these properties.
