GSA to begin fire escape removal, parapet stabilization of 202 S. State Street

CHICAGO – The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will begin construction on 202 S. State Street (Century Building) to stabilize the building parapet and remove the exterior fire escape on Oct. 9. The Adams Street sidewalk will be closed between the hours of 10 p.m.-6 a.m. from Oct. 16 through Nov. 10. In addition, there will be lane closures in effect on Adams Street until the project is completed in January 2024. This construction scope is limited to only these building elements. GSA is continuing its discussions with stakeholders on the future of this building.
