GSA awards construction contract to woman-owned, 8(a) small business

TOPEKA, Kan. — The U.S. General Services Administration awarded a contract to Firelake Construction Inc., based in Lenexa, Kansas, for resurfacing and structural repair of Parking Level 2 at GSA’s Frank Carlson Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse.

“GSA works hard to put small business first,” said GSA Regional Administrator Michael Copeland. “An added benefit is that small businesses contribute greatly to local economies.”

Project details:

  • The project award amount is $1,655,027.
  • Firelake Construction Inc. is a woman-owned, 8(a) small business.
  • Construction on the project began in fall 2019 and is expected to be completed in spring 2020.
  • The project includes the structural repair of the deteriorating underside of Parking Level 2, repair or replacement of expansion joints, installation of a waterproof membrane and new parking pavement markings.
