GSA, partners come together to assist small biz

Representatives from three GSA regions, U.S. Small Business Administration and Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance hosted a virtual matchmaking event for small, disadvantaged businesses in the construction industry May 4.

The conference featured small businesses presenting their capabilities, experience and specialties to prime contractors.

Last year the Region 6 PBS office awarded more than $45 million to small businesses, with over $32 million of that going to small and disadvantaged businesses, according to Public Buildings Service Deputy Regional Commissioner David Rumsey. "We would like to grow that number in the future," he said.

"It is important to me that we continue our partnerships with small, disadvantaged businesses," Rumsey said. "We want to work with you to make sure you have every possible advantage for receiving contracts."

GSA Region 6 Small Business Technical Advisor Bill Strobel hosted the event along with support from Region 9 Small Business Specialist Lori Falkenstrom and Region 10 Small Business Technical Advisor Enshane' Nomoto.

Participating small businesses included:

Prime contractors WB Construction, Tepa / Medvolt LLC, and Tarlton Corporation asked questions of the small businesses and discussed upcoming partnership opportunities.

Contracting officers from PBS's Design and Construction and Acquisition Management Divisions also participated. Over 30 people attended.
