It’s been four years since the Heartland Region FAS team, in coordination with the Greater Kansas City Federal Executive Board, first launched the interagency Kansas City Federal Acquisition Forum — a network of federal acquisition professionals who meet regularly to share best practices and coordinate common needs, like training and policy changes.

Today, the forum continues to thrive.

The KC Acquisition Forum hosted its latest meeting at the GSA Regional Office in Kansas City Oct. 23. Representatives from FAS, PBS, NOAA, NARA and the USDA used the time to discuss upcoming policy changes — like a new Federal Acquisition Regulation rule prohibiting the use of services and equipment from some Chinese companies — and the status of the group’s blanket purchase agreement that provides Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting (commonly known as FAC-C) classroom training within the Kansas City area.

GSA representatives also provided updates on the Multiple Award Schedules consolidation and the GWAC Vets 2 Program.

“We have hundreds of contracting professionals in the area, and the coordination we’ve realized through the acquisition forum is helping us streamline training efforts and decrease costs for the entire community,” said FAS Regional Commissioner Mary Ruwwe. “Sharing challenges and lessons learned between agencies also helps develop relationships and allows all of us to benefit from the experienced acquisition decision-makers we have here in Kansas City.”
