Acting General Counsel
As Acting General Counsel, Camille Sabbakhan is the agency’s chief legal officer, overseeing all legal matters and managing a nationwide office of nearly 140 attorneys and approximately 20 support staff.
Camille Sabbakhan provides legal advice to the GSA Administrator and other senior officials, while ensuring implementation of GSA statutory responsibilities. She also serves as the Designated Agency Ethics Official, serves as the Chief Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Officer, advises on the formulation and promulgation of GSA policies and regulations, oversees the agency’s litigation, and provides overall direction to the Office of the General Counsel.
She is an experienced government lawyer, having served in both local and federal government. She joined GSA in 2018 as Regional Counsel for the National Capital Region, and has most recently served as OGC’s Deputy General Counsel. Prior to joining GSA, she served as General Counsel for the District of Columbia Department of General Services; General Counsel for the District of Columbia Department of Real Estate Services; and Assistant City Attorney in Richmond, Virginia.
She holds a degree in architecture from the University of Virginia, a Masters of Urban & Regional Planning from Virginia Commonwealth University, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond.
