GSA Releases Design of New Federal Courthouse in Greenville
GREENVILLE, Miss. -- The U.S. General Services Administration today released the design for the new U.S. Courthouse in Greenville, Mississippi. The forward thinking design is compatible with the character of the historic downtown area while meeting the current and future needs of the Northern District of Mississippi’s Fifth Circuit. Additionally, the new Courthouse is designed to be a positive asset to the City of Greenville and serve as a catalyst for economic revitalization in the area.
“GSA focuses on delivering the best value in real estate to its federal partners and the American people,” said GSA Regional Administrator Bobby Babcock. “Through the partnerships we’ve developed on this project, the new courthouse will support the Judiciary in providing fair and impartial justice and serve as a source of community pride in the City of Greenville.”
“On behalf of the entire United States District Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, let me just say that we are absolutely thrilled with the design of our new Courthouse so far, and we are so excited about what this building will mean for Greenville and the surrounding areas,” said Chief Judge Sharion Aycock. “So much hard work has gone into this project, and there is a lot more to be done, but this building promises to be a beautiful new landmark building and a real asset to the community.”
“The new courthouse will both mark and define the next era in Greenville’s history and the evolution of Mississippi’s federal court presence,” said District Judge Debra Brown. “Its unique and functional design will generate national attention in multiple fields.”

Thompson, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, GSA and our federal judiciary in the Northern District of Mississippi for this courthouse.”
Project Details:
- The new federal courthouse will be located on a 2.5 acre site in the city’s original central business district near the east bank of the Mississippi River.
- The facility will have two courtrooms (one district and one magistrate) and three judicial chambers (one district, one magistrate and one visiting).
- Tenant agencies include the U.S. District Court, U.S. Clerk of the Court for the Northern District of Mississippi, U.S. Magistrate Court, U.S. Marshals, U.S. Probation, Federal Public Defender, U.S. Attorneys and GSA.
- GSA anticipates the start of construction in Spring 2020 and occupancy in Spring 2022.
