GSA Announces Temporary Closure of Two Southbound Lanes at Calexico West Land Port of Entry

Traffic Advisory

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
January 4, 2017

What:  The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) will be performing construction work at the Calexico West Land Port of Entry (LPOE), which will require the closure of two southbound California State Route 111 lanes entering Mexico. The lane closure will occur approximately 200 feet south of the intersection of East 2nd Street and California State Route 111.

On Monday, January 9, 2017 at 4:00 a.m., the two westernmost lanes of the California SR-111 at the Calexico West LPOE will close, allowing only one southbound vehicle lane. This closure will allow GSA to complete essential work at this LPOE. The lane closure is in effect for approximately 200 feet, at which point all three southbound lanes to Mexico will be open again to vehicle traffic. All lanes will reopen once construction is completed on June 10, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. The easternmost vehicle lane will remain open during this construction period and travelers will be able to enter Mexico via the freeway. Drivers should anticipate reduced speeds and altered traffic patterns through the construction area.

When:  January 9, 2017 at 4:00 a.m. through June 10, 2017 at 12:00 p.m.

Note: Travelers who wish to avoid potential southbound delays during peak hours associated with this roadwork can elect to use Calexico East as an alternate route to Mexico via California SR-7. The hours of operation for southbound crossing to Mexico through the Calexico East LPOE are 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. daily. Southbound crossing through Calexico West LPOE is open 24 hours a day, every day.
