Security Overview
The Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Federal Protective Service (FPS) provides law enforcement and security services such as contract security guards and crime prevention seminars to federally owned and leased facilities.
The FPS installs and monitors:
- Alarm systems
- X-Rays
- Magnetometers
- Entry control systems
Code Adam Alert Program
The Code Adam Act of 2003 [PDF - 857 KB] requires the designated authority for a public federally owned or leased building to establish procedures for a missing child. Truck Security Clearance for Deliveries to GS Building
Trucks that deliver materials to GSA’s central office building (1800 F Street, NW, Washington, DC) must obtain security clearance from the DHS/FPS Mobile Scanning Unit.
Inspection Procedure:
- When you arrive at the FPS Mobile Scanning Facility (1880 Second Street, SW Washington, DC 20024), present your freight delivery form and driver’s license at the gate.
- The guard will check paperwork and direct you to the scanning area.
- Truck will be x-rayed and sealed.
Hours of Operation:
5:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Monday–Friday
5:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m. Saturday
