We commission and care for all artworks in the GSA Fine Arts Collection. This includes two main programs: Art in Architecture and Fine Arts. The Art in Architecture Program commissions American artists to create large, permanent artworks for federal buildings nationwide. The Fine Arts Program provides national leadership and expertise in fine art care and policy. Through these programs, we foster an appreciation of creative freedom and inspire future generations to add their expressions to American democracy.
We manage, inventory, and recover thousands of federal artworks created and loaned during the New Deal era. Find out more about our role in preserving New Deal art and how you can help us.
Our public art spans more than 170 years of creativity and talent throughout the country. Learn more about and sign up for guided tours.
