GSA Selling Historic Denver Five Points Garages, Saving Taxpayer Dollars

Accelerated disposition cuts waste, reinforces the federal real estate inventory, and opens properties to redevelopment opportunities

DENVER — Today, the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced the public sale of two historic federally owned properties in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood, advancing Administrator Edward Forst’s effort to return underutilized federal assets to productive private-sector use and deliver greater value for American taxpayers.

“The sale of these two properties reflects our commitment to reinforcing the federal real estate portfolio,” said GSA Administrator Edward C. Forst. “GSA will continue delivering on President Trump’s agenda by cutting billions in delinquent maintenance costs, using federal resources efficiently, and creating economic opportunities around the country.”

The sale features the two-story, 18,910-square-foot garage at 2106 California Street and an adjacent one-story, 12,034-square-foot garage at 2101 Welton Street. The properties’ proximity to the region’s major cultural and economic institutions offers prospective buyers a prime opportunity for redevelopment.

In addition to the Denver structures, GSA has listed other buildings for accelerated disposition to ensure taxpayers no longer pay for underutilized federal space. GSA projects that the sale of these buildings will eliminate $5 billion in delinquent maintenance and annual operating costs.

GSA has reduced costs and strengthened the federal real estate portfolio by disposing of over 127 properties since January 2025, generating $614 million in proceeds, avoiding $1.15 billion in delinquent maintenance and operating expenses, and eliminating $867 million in costs through lease negotiations and reductions. Recent transactions include the Liberty Loan Building and the GSA Regional Office Building in Washington, D.C., as well as properties in MaineMinnesotaTexasCalifornia and Tennessee

Interested parties are highly encouraged to review the Invitation for Bids, property information, and auction requirements before submitting a bid. Buyers can bid on both properties, but must note that each will require a separate bid deposit. Each property is listed individually at its own public auction link.
