Personal Property Policy Overview
In 2022, the federal government owned approximately $2 trillion in personal property assets. Managing these assets – office supplies to aircraft – is an important responsibility. We give federal agencies the regulations, policies, and guidance they need to manage and dispose of personal property.
These policies explain how you:
- Collect, analyze, and report data on federal personal property;
- Facilitate federal agency discussions on personal property management through the Interagency Committee on Property Management (ICPM);
- Provide policies and guidance on personal property management and on special programs such as exchange/sale and foreign gifts; and
- Provide personal property regulations in the Federal Management Regulation (FMR).
