The Personal Property Center (PPC) supports federal agencies by receiving, processing, and managing excess and surplus personal property. The PPC helps extend the useful life of government assets by facilitating reuse across federal agencies and donation to eligible recipients. Property that is not transferred or donated is made available for public sale through the colocated GSA Surplus Sales Center.
Read below for information about disposing of property through the PPC or acquiring excess and surplus property from the center.
Dispose of Property Through the PPC
Located in Springfield, Virginia, the PPC provides federal agencies with a convenient storage and property-management solution when personal property needs to be removed from agency space.
For a reasonable fee, the PPC takes full control and accountability for an agency’s excess property and manages the disposal process, including transfer, donation, and sale. The center serves customers across the East Coast, with primary support for the greater Washington, DC region, including Virginia and eastern Maryland.
The PPC is co-located with the GSA Surplus Sales Center, which supports online auctions, vehicle sales, and other negotiated sales for property that is not transferred or donated.
Acquire Excess or Surplus Property Through the PPC
Federal agencies and State Agencies for Surplus Property (SASPs) are eligible to screen and request property at the PPC. Receiving customers are responsible for transporting property from the PPC to their desired location. The following forms are required for property pick-ups:
