Art in Architecture Program National Artist Registry
Follow the guidelines and steps below to join the National Artist Registry to be considered for all our art commissions. You must resubmit to the National Artist Registry at least every ten years to continue to be considered for commissions.
Preparation
Gather the items listed below before you proceed with your submissions.
- A current résumé for the artist including:
- Any previous public commissions
- Exhibition history
- Museum collections that include the artist’s work
- A list of awards, honors, and grants
- Images of the artist’s work created within the last ten years. The images must comply with the following criteria:
- All images must be in JPEG format, 10 x 7.5 inches at 200 pixels per inch, which equals 2000 x 1500 pixels
- Filenames must consist of a combination of a two-digit number followed by the artist’s first name and last name, for example: 01AlexanderCalder, 02AlexanderCalder, etc.
- We accept up to 20 images
- An image list that provides the artist’s name, title of the work, date, medium/materials, and dimensions.
Join the National Artist Registry
You have two choices for how to submit your artwork — by online form or PDF.
- Complete and submit the Art in Architecture National Artist Registry online form.
- Submit the images of the artist’s work, an image list, and a résumé as specified above by email to NationalArtistRegistry@gsa.gov.
Option 2: Submit the PDF form and email your attachments
- Complete the Art in Architecture National Artist Registry Form GSA 7437 and save it.
- Submit the completed form, images of the artist’s work, an image list, and a résumé as specified above by email to NationalArtistRegistry@gsa.gov.
If your attachments are too large for email
- Upload your files to Google Drive.
- Share the files from Google Drive with us at NationalArtistRegistry@gsa.gov.

Online form
Fill out and submit this form, then follow up by emailing a current résumé and up to 20 digital images of the artist’s work created within the last 10 years to NationalArtistRegistry@GSA.gov.
- Please use JPEG format within the dimensions of 10 x 7.5 inches at 200 pixels per inch, which equals 2000 x 1500 pixels, for each digital image.
- Please also send a list that provides the title, date, medium/materials, and dimensions for each of the artworks shown in your JPEG images.

This information is collected under the general authority granted to GSA under subchapter I of chapter 5 of subtitle I and chapter 33 of subtitle II of title 40 of the United States Code. Providing your name, contact information, resume, and example artwork is voluntary, however, failure to provide it will prevent us from being able to add an individual to the National Artist Registry for prospective projects. Submission of gender, race, and ethnicity data is also voluntary; failure to provide it will not affect an individual’s application, as this information will not be used in the selection process, but instead will be used for internal management of the Art in Architecture program to ensure GSA’s outreach efforts provide a sufficiently diverse and representative pool of artists as the Federal Government considers possible commissions.
The Systems of Records Notice (SORN) which governs the information on this form is the Museum System-TMS, available at: www.federalregister.gov/documents/2021/08/20/2021-17901/privacy-act-of-1974-modify-system-of-records-notice. Information on this form may be disclosed to a Member of Congress in response to an inquiry made on your behalf.
