Federal Mobility Group

The Federal Mobility Group (FMG) works to identify common wireless and mobility challenges, develop solutions, and share best practices.

The FMG looks at non-national security and mobility mission-related challenges agencies face. It is currently focused on 5G, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), security and policy regulations, and other emerging technologies.

How to Join

The team includes 250 contracting officers and program managers, and leaders from 45 agencies and bureaus across the federal and technical spectrum. They meet every two weeks.

Membership requires an active .gov or .mil address. To join the team, email wireless@gsa.gov.

The FMG is co-chaired by mobile leaders from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), General Services Administration (GSA), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). It reports to the Services, Strategy, & Infrastructure Committee within the Federal Chief Information Officers (CIO) Council and the Federal IT Category Manager, with executive sponsorship by a federal agency Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
