Julie Dunne Named New Commissioner of GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) announced that Julie Dunne has been named the commissioner of the Federal Acquisition Service (FAS).

Dunne will lead the FAS as it continues to enhance and simplify the acquisition experience through its Federal Marketplace Strategy and IT modernization initiatives. Consolidating the Multiple Award Schedules program and increasing efficiencies and taxpayer savings through shared services, like the Fleet program, will also be areas of focus. Dunne will ensure GSA’s acquisition strategies are aligned with the Trump administration’s business and technology initiatives. FAS plays a central role in implementing GSA’s mission of delivering the best value in real estate, acquisition, and technology services to government and the American people.

Dunne joined GSA last May after serving as staff director on the Government Operations Subcommittee of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and as senior counsel on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. Prior to her congressional experience, she was a government contracts attorney at a Washington, D.C. law firm. Additionally, Julie has served at the Department of Homeland Security as associate general counsel for General Law and at the Department of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security.

I am excited to work with her as she implements her vision for continuing GSA’s work to modernize and streamline government.”

Also joining the FAS leadership team is deputy commissioner Tom Howder. Howder has served as acting deputy commissioner since Nov. 2018 and has been with GSA for more than 30 years. He has previously served as head of the agency's Assisted Acquisition Services portfolio, overseeing the delivery of $9 billion in custom acquisition, project, and financial management services.
