Office of Governmentwide Acquisition Policy

The Office of Governmentwide Acquisition Policy fosters innovation, operational excellence, and trust in federal agency acquisition activities. It does this through regulations, policies, and guidance that allow federal agencies to meet their core mission. It also reveals the regulatory programs of all federal agencies.

On behalf of GSA, the Federal Acquisition Policy Division, with the Department of Defense (DOD) and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), writes the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). The FAR is the rule book for all federal agency procurements. It governs the billions of contract dollars the federal government spends every year.

The Regulatory Secretariat Division prepares, compiles, and processes governmentwide as well as agency-specific regulations and general notices for the Federal Register.
