GSA Sharpens Focus on Small Business with New Office Designation
Post filed in: Small Business
Moving forward, GSA’s Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization will operate under the name Office of Small Business (OSB) — a designation that better reflects our shift toward a more holistic, consultative approach to our support for America’s small businesses. The office’s statutory authorities under the Small Business Act remain unchanged.
The new secondary title clarifies our team’s role in ensuring compliance with federal small business requirements, providing consultative support to acquisition professionals and industry, and ensuring capable small businesses can compete, provide high-quality solutions, and help the government operate more effectively.
It also better aligns with federal acquisition process improvements resulting from the Revolutionary FAR Overhaul (RFO).
Small businesses are not only the backbone of our economy, they are also an important source of innovation, creativity, and agility for GSA and our partner agencies. Having worked for both large and small government contractors over my career, I am a firm believer in the distinctive value that small businesses can bring to the table.
Innovation and economic growth depend on a strong and competitive small business community. Our role is to make sure those businesses have a clear path to compete, grow, and help shape the future of federal procurement, ensuring agencies get the best products and services at the best value.
Our vision is that GSA maintains a thriving, competitive ecosystem of small businesses that deliver value to the American people.
