FAS Implements New Organizational Structure to Strengthen Acquisition Workforce, Aid Procurement Consolidation

| GSA Deputy Administrator Michael Lynch
Post filed in: Federal Acquisition Service

GSA’s Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) has updated its organizational structure to strengthen operations, improve outcomes, and increase accountability to the American people. This change directly supports President Trump’s Executive Orders for both Workforce Optimization and Procurement Consolidation.

The operations of FAS are being consolidated into five new portfolios:

  1. Office of Assisted Acquisition Services (Assist)
  2. Office of Centralized Acquisition Services (Centralize)
  3. Office of Acquisition Solutions Development (Create)
  4. Office of Shared Services Delivery (Deliver)
  5. Office of Business Optimization (Optimize)

In addition, a new office (Transform) was established to accelerate automation and implement Artificial Intelligence solutions.

We are not just changing boxes on an organizational chart—we are fundamentally strengthening the backbone of federal purchasing. This strategic shift will ensure our contracting officers have the necessary tools, training, and top level support to deliver best value for the American taxpayer.

For our customer agencies, operations will continue as usual. You will not experience any changes to GSA’s signature programs, which include CityPairs, Fleet, Multiple Award Schedule, Governmentwide Acquisition Contracts, GO.gov, and OneGov, among others. Likewise, for our partners in the vendor community, you should not expect any immediate changes to day-to-day operations.

This reorganization aligns our internal structure with the significant changes and results we have experienced since the start of the second Trump Administration.

We look forward to continuing to serve our partner agencies and the American public, while pursuing all opportunities to improve outcomes for our customers and industry.
