New Chattanooga Courthouse

The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) received authorization from Congress in the amount of $218,000,000 for the site acquisition, design and construction of a new 186,000-square-foot federal courthouse in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The courthouse, once completed, will consist of seven (7) courtrooms, nine (9) chambers, and 39 inside secure parking spaces. The facility will also provide space for the District Clerk, U.S. Probation Office, Bankruptcy Clerk, United States Marshals Services, United States Attorney’s Office, Federal Public Defender and the General Services Administration.

GSA is in the Site Selection Phase.

A hard copy is also available at the Chattanooga Public Library Downtown Branch, located at 1001 Broad Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402.

GSA awarded the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) contract on March 1, 2023 with the Notice to Proceed issued for the NEPA analysis on March 21. The contract was awarded to Potomac Hudson Engineering (PHE). The NEPA analysis will take approximately 9 - 10 months to complete. A Program of Requirements (POR) study will also be conducted for this project. GSA intends to contract with a construction manager as advisor (CMa) firm to conduct the POR study and anticipates issuing the request for proposals (RFP) to qualified CMa firms in the second quarter of the calendar year 2023.
